NET made mandatory for teaching in higher education:
The Univercity Grant Commission has made National Eligibility Test Mandatory for teaching job in higher education, in reversal of a decision it took three years ago, those holding a Ph.D degree, however continue to be exempted. The UGC has told Univercities that those allready registerd for M.Phil and complrting the same before June 2009, shall be exempted from NET.However, NET will be compulsory for the condidates completing M.Phil degree after this date.
In 2006, the commision head exempted M.Phil degree holders from NET for appointment as faculty for Under graduate teaching. Latter the B L M Mungerkar Committee constituted to revew the decision, recomended that NET be restored as mandatory as the exemption was leading to deterioration in the quality of teaching.
AMU to Set Up Contrywide Campuses:
Aligarh Muslim University is poised to setup five contrywide campuses, which will take it beyond it's birth place. This, sources says, siganalled that AMU was trying to recouncil it's overzealous concerns about it's minority status to the equaly important meet for growth. Last year, AMU had open for admission test centers outside Aligarh, in spite of strip of stiff resistance from strong internal lobby about its minority character being diluted. All section of AMU management-The AMU court , executive coucil and accadmic council-have for the fist time unanimously agreed on the prrposal to open new centres.
IGNOU to set up a centre on corporate training:
Corporate training is now an essential component of most of the companies under the Human Resource Management work domain. The ragular problem of attrition and new recruits in companies has created a need for ragular training sessions and knowledge of corporate management. Keeping these needs in mind, IGNOU has lounched its new initiative under the centre for corporate education, training and consultancy to develope programms on corporate education consistent with the requirements of the corporate sector and industry.
